Noun
Aluminum is a silvery-white, lightweight metal. It is soft and malleable.
fr: Aluminium

Bearing
Noun
A part of a machine that bears friction, especially between a rotating part and its housing.
fr: Bearing, Roulement à bille
null
Bolt
Noun
A threaded pin that screws into a nut and is used to fasten things together.
fr: Boulon

Cast Iron
Noun
A hard, relatively brittle alloy of iron and carbon that can be readily cast in a mold and contains a higher proportion of carbon than steel (typically 2.0–4.3 percent).
fr: Fonte
null
Drawing
Noun
A picture or diagram made with a pencil, pen, or crayon rather than paint.
fr: Dessin
null
Drill
Noun, Verb
A hand tool, power tool, or machine with a rotating cutting tip or reciprocating hammer or chisel, used for making holes.
fr: Perceuse, Percer
null
Ductility
Noun
The quality or state of being ductile especially : the ability of a material to have its shape changed (as by being drawn out into wire or thread) without losing strength or breaking When certain alloys are added to metal, hardness and strength can be improved without decreasing the ductility.
fr: Ductilité
null
Forge
Adjective
Make or shape (a metal object) by heating it in a fire or furnace and beating or hammering it.
fr: Forgé
null
Gear
Noun
One set of toothed wheels that work together to alter the relation between the speed of a driving mechanism (such as the engine of a vehicle or the crank of a bicycle) and the speed of the driven parts (the wheels).
fr: Engrenage
null
Heat treatment
Noun
The use of heat for therapeutic purposes in medicine, or to modify the properties of a material, especially in metallurgy.
fr: Traitement thermique
null
Lathe
Noun
A machine for shaping wood, metal, or other material by means of a rotating drive which turns the piece being worked on against changeable cutting tools.
fr: Tour
null
Machinist
Noun
A person who operates a machine, especially a machine tool.
fr: Machiniste

Metal
Noun
A solid material that is typically hard, shiny, malleable, fusible, and ductile, with good electrical and thermal conductivity.
fr: Métal
null
Milling machine
Milling machine, device that rotates a circular tool that has a number of cutting edges symmetrically arranged about its axis.
fr: Fraiseuse

Nut
Noun
A small flat piece of metal or other material, typically square or hexagonal, with a threaded hole through it for screwing on to a bolt as a fastener.
fr: Écrou
null
Oil
Noun
A viscous liquid derived from petroleum, especially for use as a fuel or lubricant.
fr: Huile

Screw
A short, slender, sharp-pointed metal pin with a raised helical thread running around it and a slotted head, used to join things together by being rotated so that it pierces wood or other material and is held tightly in place.
fr: Vis
null
Titanium
Noun
A metal that is a very durable mostly used for engineering applications because this metal is corrosion-resistant and also this metal is very strong and very light. It is 40% lighter than steel but as strong as high-strength steel. Titanium finds applications in things like aerospace.
fr: Titane
null
Vernier
Noun
A small movable graduated scale for obtaining fractional parts of subdivisions on a fixed main scale of a barometer, sextant, or other measuring instrument.
fr: Vernier
null
Weld
Noun
Join together (metal pieces or parts) by heating the surfaces to the point of melting using a blowtorch, electric arc, or other means, and uniting them by pressing, hammering, etc.
fr: Soudure
